DETAIL ITINERARY
Day Itinerary Description
01 Arrive in Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.
02 Kathmandu city sightseeing in the morning. Preparation for the trip and briefing in the afternoon.
03 From Kathmandu, you will drive to Kodari (Nepal-Tibet border) by bus. After completing immigration and custom formalities here, you will drive for approximately 6-7 hours till you arrive at Nyalam (elevation 3,750 m). Overnight at lodge.
04 You will spend the day hiking around Nyalam for acclimatization purpose. Overnight at lodge.
05 Drive to Saga (4,600 m). The distance between Nyalam and Saga is about 220 km and takes some 6-7 hours travel time to get from the first point to the second. En route, you will go over a pass, Lalung La (4,910 m). Overnight in camps.
06 Drive from Saga to Paryang (4,750 m) some 235 km away. The drive lasts for 6-7 hours. Overnight in camps.
07 From Paryang, a 6-hour drive (distance 235 km) will get you to Manasarovar Lake (4,600 m). Overnight in camps.
08 Spend the morning exploring the area around the lake and performing puja (worship). In the afternoon, drive to Darchen (4,470 m) for one hour (50 km). Overnight at lodge.
09 From Darchen, drive for 8 km to Tarbouche from where you will commence your parikarma (pilgrim's progress) around Mt. Kailash. The night halt will be at Dira Puk some 17 km from Tarbouche. Overnight in camps.
10 Trek from Dira Puk to Zuthul Puk (4,835 m) some 18 km away. You will be traversing over Drolma La (5,660 m).
11 On this day you will complete the circuit around the sacred mountain and be back at Tarbouche after walking for approximately 6 hours from Zuthul Puk. Drive back to Darchen. Overnight at lodge.
12 Drive to Paryang.
13 Drive to Saga.
14 Drive to Zhangmu, cross the border and drive on back to Kathmandu.
15 Rest day. Celebration dinner.
16 Free day in Kathmandu.
17 Transfer to airport for onward flight, or optional extension
